© Els Vlieger Portrait of two little sisters
This portrait in the style of the 100 days project was the second commission by Isabelle, my favourite French client. She researched her family history and ordered two artworks in which her paternal and -with this new one-her maternal family starred.
The girls depicted in the drawing are Isabelle’s grandmother Denise to the left, with one of her little sisters. Because the family bred homing pigeons and kept dogs, I incorporated those pets into the artwork. I always love to draw details like that. The dog’s gaze at the flying dove in a diagonal line adds a dynamic touch. It is a nice contrast to the static position of the two posing girls. Another, intersecting diagonal line is formed by the identical color of the photo album that returns in the young girl’s dress. I have also taken into account the color palette of the first work of art I made for Isabelle.
I received the print and I love it !!
It really means a lot to me because it makes me retrieve so much information about my family’s story, and thanks to the artworks I ordered you, I feel like I known my family better.
